Within this post, the successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day management of a comprehensive, high quality patient administration and reception service, across a multi section Department ensuring a quality service to patients, medical staff and other users of the service.  This post has decision making responsibility and accountability to manage the day to day operational service delivery for Health Records Services.  This front line post requires the development and maintenance of strong communication links at all levels of the organisation, demonstrating an understanding of other clinical and non-clinical disciplines.


KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB

Candidates should have extensive experience within a Health Records environment, demonstrating significant experience of management of a complex multi section Health Records Service, with previous Supervisory experience. In addition, specialist knowledge of Health Records gained through relevant experience, educated to/working towards/operating at degree level, and/or professional qualification Diploma of the Institute of Health Records and Information Management (IHRIM), or equivalent is required for this position, as well as specialist knowledge across a diverse range of areas without reference to the Health Records Manager, working with and demonstrating an understanding of other disciplines; clinical and non-clinical The successful candidate will hold excellent communication and interpersonal skills and knowledge of current national guidelines: Electronic Patient Records; Caldicott and Clinical Governance relating to Records Management. Knowledge of the Data Protection Act 1998, Access to Health Records Act 1990 and Freedom of Information Act 2004.


Candidates should have knowledge and understanding of statistical information, experience of Patient Administration Systems as well as experience of Microsoft Office packages: Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.


Experience of successfully building and developing teams along with the ability to work collaboratively with other Health professionals, work both on own initiative and as a team member and the ability to prioritise workload is required for this post.
