37.5 hours per week – Full time, Permanent

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic physiotherapy assistant practitioner to join our Community Physiotherapy service based at the RNI Community Hospital in Inverness. This team is focused on providing physiotherapy assessment and treatment to a wide range of patients either within their own homes, Ward 1 at the RNI or as an outpatient. We aim to enable individuals to regain independent physical function and to improve their quality of life.

As a physiotherapy assistant practitioner based in the Community, you will be allocated a delegated patient caseload by a qualified physiotherapist. For your caseload and when relevant you will be expected to work independently, assessing the patient's needs, modifying treatment plans, and delivering this care without direct supervision. This will include progressing patients, reassessing and discharging within your scope of practice. Full engagement with the Integrated team (MDT) based within the RNI is another key part of this position.

You will also support the physiotherapy team through a range of non-clinical duties, from equipment ordering, referring patients on to other services for example, 3rd sector organisations and to assist with statistical information collation for patient activity audit purposes.

The range of conditions encountered and requirement for excellence in clinical reasoning and team working in this post will allow the successful candidate to gain extensive and in-depth experience as a band 4 physiotherapy assistant practitioner.

The Physiotherapy team support staff development through appraisal processes, supervision and CPD opportunities.

Candidates ideally to display evidence of clinical experience of work in a variety of areas including  Elderly care and Neurological conditions, and will have had relevant / current experience as a band 3 therapy support worker, or already as a band 4 assistant practitioner.

This job requires the post holder to have either a SVQ 3, Professional Development Award (PDA) or equivalent skills acquired through in-service development or experience and ability to undertake qualification during employment, if deemed appropriate to complete.
