An exciting post as Professional Nurse Lead for Older Peoples Services has arisen within Glasgow City HSCP, the largest of our six HSCPs. 

Glasgow City provides and hosts a range of services across the city, Greater Glasgow & Clyde and the West of Scotland – including Mental Health, Addictions, and Prison Healthcare.  Glasgow City’s transformation journey over the past number of years has been hugely progressive and you will be joining at a time as we set on our next phase of improvement ambitions for community services, as well as leading our teams through COVID-19 recovery. 

This post is the most senior nurse within Older Peoples Service within Glasgow City and as such is a key member of Senior Core Leadership and Professional Teams and various Strategic Planning Groups across Glasgow City. 

The role provides key strategic professional leadership in the development of District, community and specialist nursing services across the HSCP ensuring the delivery of person centred, safe and effective nursing services and clinical practice. As a senior member of the Professional Nursing Leadership Team, this role provides support to the Chief Nurse, the wider senior nursing team and managerial colleagues in leading and directing the strategic professional and clinical development of nurses to improve care for all patients and clients. This post provides professional leadership across a variety of different roles and services and includes clinical oversite and leadership for a number of exciting Older Peoples project developments with the city. 

The role works in partnership with Assistant Chief Officer (ACF), Heads of Services, Service Managers, Clinical Leads, Local Authority partners, Learning & Education and other agencies in line with good practice and organisational development requirements within the HSCP. This includes providing direction and guidance on professional issues by establishing effective clinical and care governance arrangements, and establishing an effective and highly skilled nursing workforce to meet the needs of the population. 

As part of the HSCPs senior leadership team the principle objective of the post is to provide professional leadership to the nursing workforce and inspire, direct and promote improvements in Clinical Care and Healthcare Quality across Older People’s services in the city and foster a culture which values continuing professional development and strives for excellence in all aspects of the delivery of patient safety and care. 

We are now seeking an exceptional and inspirational Professional Nurse Lead to join our team. We are seeking someone who in partnership with colleagues can lead the nursing profession through change working in partnership with our clinical and non- clinical colleagues to deliver strategic change, service transformation and continuous quality improvement. 

A registered nurse with a first degree, post graduate Master’s degree and District Nursing qualification, you will have significant senior leadership and or management experience in the NHS or another complex multi-disciplinary public or private sector organisation. Strong influencing and leadership qualities and a significant and demonstrable track record of success in the delivery of organisational change and partnership working are also key requirements of the role.
