This is a training post, which requires a significant level of academic study to achieve competence in role delivery, whilst undergoing training the successful candidate will be paid a percentage of the top of Band 6 and on completion of training will then move on to Band 6 scale.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join the North School Nursing Team, based in Coathill Hospital.
We are seeking School Nurses to demonstrate & enhance their knowledge & skills , in order to further their professional career.
We have various positions , with various hours that have become available within this demanding but rewarding service .
The School Nurse will demonstrate commitment to delivering a high quality accessible school nursing service for vulnerable school aged children who have been identified as being at risk and requiring additional support.
This will be achieved by working in partnership with children, young people, families, carers and partner agencies.
A continuous focus on prevention, early intervention and support will prevail and concentrate on the ten priority areas under overarching themes of vulnerable children and families, mental health and wellbeing, and risk taking behaviours.
The School Nurse will be responsible for a caseload and function as an autonomous practitioner by virtue of in-depth knowledge, expertise, experience and proficiency.
A full , valid UK driving licence holder will be essential for this position to meet the needs of the service .
The successful candidates will have achieved the following skills & attributes :
- Registered Nurse with valid UK NMC Registration.
- Educated to/working towards or operating at Degree Level
- Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification.
- Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice.
- Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions appropriate to areas of responsibility.
- Ability to communicate and engage effectively with looked after children, ensuring that they have the opportunity to participate in decisions affecting them as appropriate to their age and ability.
- Awareness of national policy and legislation relating to children and young people.
- Problem solving skills.
- IT skills – word processing/email/internet.
- Leadership and management skills to enable the day to day management of a caseload and service delivery.
- The post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative.
- Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Effective time management skills.
