We currently have a vacancy for an experienced Band 6 midwife to join the Birth at Home Team within NHS Fife. 
The team successfully launched in 2019 and have continued to provide a Birth at Home service supported through NHS Fife’s community midwifery teams.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated midwife who will support women who choose to birth at home. You will be responsible for providing care to a case load of women, providing continuity of care for these women throughout their pregnancy journey. You will be expected to participate in an on call rota for birth, providing care for women in various settings and will be required to travel throughout Fife.

We are looking for a midwife with a passion to support women who chose to birth at home as well as being able to assist with the continuous development of the home birth service within Fife. Successful completion of the Scottish Routine Examination of the Newborn Course (SRENC) or equivalent is desirable and you should be skilled and competent in perineal trauma repair.

We are a dynamic, progressive and really friendly team, the unit is modern and progressive with approximately 3500 births per year. The services include outpatient and community services, a complex care Consultant Unit and an alongside Midwife Led Unit. We are developing services in line with Best Start recommendations. We are focussing on increasing our rates of continuity of carer in the first instance. We already have teams established for vulnerable in pregnancy and child protection including a perinatal mental health midwife and bereavement specialist, infant nutrition and smoking cessation.

We will encourage you with your professional development and education via our dedicated clinical midwife educator and midwifery PEF. We have an extremely successful in house leadership programme and regularly encourage staff to participate in external networking.

You must be a NMC Registered Midwife, educated to degree level. In addition, you should possess enthusiasm, excellent team working skills with effective communication. 

Fife is situated on the East coast of Scotland, nestled between Edinburgh and Dundee. Fife has been the ancestral home of Scottish monarchs, world-famous for its golf and some of Scotland's best scenic attractions; the Kingdom of Fife has a distinct identity.  The Forth Road and Rail Bridges are the most memorable sights on this stretch of coastline. Fife main towns are Dunfermline, Kirkcaldy, Glenrothes and St Andrews, Scotland's oldest university town, the home of the world-famous Royal and Ancient golf club. Along the coast there are the fishing villages of the East Neuk, the Fife Coastal Path can be enjoyed by recreational and serious walkers.
