Training Position Annex 21 Section 2 (iii) Trainees are paid a percentage of the pay band maximum for the qualified rate which is dependent on the duration of the training period (see Terms and Conditions). 

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the NHS Fife GI Nursing team for a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Gastroenterology. The current nursing team consists of 8 practising Non-Medical Endoscopists’ /1 Clinical Nurse Specialists in Gastroenterology and a Senior Staff Nurse, there are also three trainees currently training in endoscopic skills. The team is supported by 1.7 WTE Administration Support workers and is fully supported by 6 Consultant Gastroenterologists.

We are looking for highly motivated individual with a passion for clinical care, a strong team work ethic and the aspiration to develop skills working as a key member of this senior nursing clinical team.

This post requires an education to/or working towards a degree level and the ability to work across professional boundaries with a commitment to continuous professional development. The GI team are dedicated to the provision of ongoing effective supervision, support and education and full training will be given

You will be an experienced first level nurse with substantial post registration and relevant senior nurse experience with evidence of current or previous ward based experience either acute medical/surgical/admissions/critical care experience of GI nursing is desirable within this remit.

This challenging post require excellent interpersonal and clinical decision making skills, you will be supporting the GI Nursing team by undertaking out-patient clinics, providing a phlebotomy service and providing an immunosuppressant new drug start clinic and consent, in addition to a blood monitoring service for GI patients.

This post does not require training in Endoscopy modalities, it is however an Annex 21 post. The post is dependent on ongoing completion of non-medical prescribing and clinical decision making/assessment modules and thereafter consolidation and demonstration of autonomous independent practice.

This is a permanent full time position based within Victoria Hospital, worked over 5 days, hours to be negotiated. Very occasional weekend work may be required to cover the needs of the service and cross site cover may also be required at Queen Margaret Hospital and/or St Andrews Community Hospital.
