This post presents an exciting opportunity to develop and evaluate a relatively new dietetic service for patients on the caseload of Alcohol & Drug Recovery Teams in Glasgow. Working with these multi-disciplinary teams, the post-holder will be responsible for delivering and evaluating a specialist dietetic service to support patients attending community Alcohol & Drug Recovery Services within Glasgow HSCP’s. The post holder will be the specialist dietitian for service users with addiction issues, either drug or alcohol related, who may also be suffering from complex physical and mental health conditions. The post holder will work with inpatient ADRS dietetic staff and have the opportunity to provide cover for inpatient ADRS service wards. Professionally and operationally the post holder will report via the Dietetic Lead ADRS and Mental Health.
The post holder will:
-Provide, develop and evaluate an evidence based specialist ADRS Dietetic Service for patients, carers, and MDT staff within ADRS Services, Glasgow HSCPs.
-Provide cover for ADRS impatient services when required
-Be involved in the supervision, teaching and mentoring of student dietitians and provide support to less experienced dietetic staff, and / or team assistants and clerical staff
-Plan and deliver education and training for both patients and health care professionals. This training may cover clinically complex and detailed, broad ranging topical nutritional issues for adults and older people.
-It is essential you have a Degree/Postgraduate Diploma or equivalent in Dietetics and are registered with the Health & Care Professions Council HCPC. You should ideally have at least four years post graduate level dietetic experience with at least one year undertaking additional responsibilities or further developing a specific area of practice. Audit / Research experience and evidence of impact on practice would also be desirable.
