The Estates Department facilitate the delivery of uninterrupted quality healthcare by providing a 24 hour, 7 day a week safe comfortable & statutory compliant built environment which supports the effective provision of high quality clinical care for our patients. This is achieved by maintaining and delivering an effective Planned Preventive Maintenance
You will provide professional and technical support to and deputises for the Sector Estates Manager & contributes to the forward planning, development and implementation of effective and efficient maintenance policies. Will act as operational lead within the estate management team and is professionally responsible for delivering the organisations key objectives, in maintaining an effective estates service within allocated budgetary resource and in compliance with statutory requirements & mandatory NHS Healthcare standards & guidelines, You will provide expert advice to Senior Managers within the organisation.
You will be a senior manager employed by NHS GG&C, which comprises four sectors as detailed below, You will be based within one of these named sectors.
1. South Sector
2. Clyde Sector
3. North East and West Sector
4. Partnerships Sector including HSCP
You will act as line manager for the Estates Managers.
Maintenance/Revenue Budget – You will impact directly on a budget of approximately £5 million per annum, and will act as an authorised purchasing officer/signatory operating within the Boards SFI’s to allow the execution of maintenance activities on the site.
Capital & Backlog Maintenance Budgets – You will be responsible for authorising expenditure and accountable for expenditure within allocated budgets in accordance with Board SFI’s. The post impacts directly & indirectly on these budgets, in the range £250k - £1.0 million per project, where more than one project may be directly managed simultaneously.

You are required to have highly developed specialist knowledge across the range of work procedures and practices underpinned by theoretical knowledge and relevant practical experience, evidenced by academic qualification to Masters Degree or equivalent level in an appropriate subject with demonstrable experience of working in a healthcare or industrial/commercial building services environment, endorsed with a post graduate qualification in a supplementary discipline (e.g. Mechanical or Electrical or Building) and hold a managerial post graduate qualification. PG Cert, PG Dip, MA, MSc, SVQ5, Professional Development Awards (SCQF 11/12) You must be a Chartered Professional in membership of a recognised Institute e.g. IHEEM, CIOB, RICS, RIBA, IEE, ImechE, CIBSE and Educated to Masters Degree or equivalent Degree level or equivalent with at least 3 years experience of managing in a complex health care environment. Covering a vast range of technical specialties unique to the healthcare environment, each requiring a combination of nationally accredited training and assessment by examinations, structured residential and on-site training in the workplace, extended self study and continued professional development. The shift pattern for this post is Monday – Friday.
