The Glasgow Clinical Research Facility (CRF) incorporates Clinical Research Facilities at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, the Glasgow Royal Infirmary and the Paediatric Clinical Research Facility (co-located on the QEUH campus). Jointly they provide a streamlined service to investigators to conduct their clinical research efficiently and safely. We are recruiting a flexible, enthusiastic Paediatric Research Nurse Manager to provide leadership and clinical research expertise to support the Clinical Research Facility (CRF) paediatric research team in delivering a high standard of care to study participants. The Paediatric portfolio is exciting and diverse, covering the breadth of research activities from registry studies to phase 1 medicinal trials.
The post holder will lead and support development of the Paediatric CRF service, implement management strategies, initiate process and practices, with support from the GCRF Senior Management Team .
The post-holder will have responsibility for study management and study specific staff training, ensuring compliance with the protocol, sponsor and Clinical Trials Unit Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), clinical trial regulations, research governance and GG&C policies. Lead, develop and implement, in collaboration with the research team, a study recruitment plan to identify, consent and retain study participants. The post holder will provide regular written and verbal reports on paediatric CRF activity and development to line manager.
Where appropriate, the post-holder may also be the lead nurse on an agreed number of studies, commensurate with their own prior level of paediatric and research experience.
The post holder will manage resources to support clinical research activity to meet objectives agreed by Glasgow CRF and Research & Innovation (R&I) senior management team. They will liaise with the Scottish Children’s Research Network (Scot CRN), UK wide paediatric CRFs and other UK paediatric research organisations contributing to the development of collaborative working practices.
Minimal requirements:
- Registered Nurse (children) with minimum 5 years current relevant post-registration paediatric experience in the acute care setting.
- Minimum requirement of first level degree with evidence of continuing personal development.
- Evidence of highly developed clinical and technical skills with the ability to support, train, supervise and mentor the paediatric research nursing staff.
- Management capability with the ability to manage, motivate and develop staff.
- Ability to prioritise own and staff workload to achieve agreed timelines, quality standards and targets.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office, research web-based systems and databases proficiently and effectively in the workplace.
Desirable:
- Personal development in research or relevant area e.g. project management, including current working knowledge of GCP, regulatory legislation and research frameworks.
- Experience of producing written reports, SOPs, templates and presentations.
- Experience in managing clinical research projects including both academic and commercial CTIMPs and non-CTIMP studies
