NHS GRAMPIAN CONSULTANT GASTROENTEROLOGIST REF: EG091558 Become an important part of a large team, at the heart of delivering high quality, patient-centered care for the half-million people who live in Grampian, whilst enjoying the benefits and excellent resources from living in one of the UK’s finest cities.
Aberdeen Royal Infirmary is the major teaching hospital for the North of Scotland. The Department of Digestive Disorders provides tertiary services for the NHS Grampian Region and the Shetland and Orkney Islands. The Department of Digestive Disorders offers a full range of secondary and tertiary luminal Gastroenterology services including Advanced IBD, Advanced Endoscopy, Hepatology and nutrition services. In patient care takes place in the Emergency Care Centre with a dedicated 29 bed Gastroenterology ward. Clinic and Endoscopy facilities have also been renovated in recent years to provide excellent facilities. A purpose built new Endoscopy Unit is due to be completed in the new Elective Care unit by 2021. The unit has an active research program working jointly with The University of Aberdeen. There are excellent post graduate educational facilities further enhanced by the Suttie Centre for medical education. The successful applicants would join a team of 13 NHS Consultants, and one Associate Specialist.

Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from date of interview. Alternatively, applicants should possess a CESR / CESR (CP).
Applications from doctors with appropriate specialist training and experience who are not listed on the GMC Specialist Register can be considered for a Locum Consultant post (up to 12 months) if no substantive Consultant appointment is made. Whilst in locum employment, an application to obtain a CESR / CESR (CP) and entry onto the Specialist Register can be made. |
