Clinical Development Fellow - Haematology (with out of hours for General Medicine)
£1319.21 per week inclusive of out of hours allowance (ST1-ST2 level)
Available for 12 months duration, commencing August 2022 (earlier start date and longer appointments negotiable)

The Role
Available from August 2022 for one year, but candidates interested in a shorter or longer duration appointment are also welcome to apply. You would gain experience in haematology, outpatient clinics, in-patients and you would also work with patients requiring on-going chemotherapy and clinical monitoring. As part of the service component you would provide a proportion of out of hours service (evenings and weekends) with general medicine.
Borders General Hospital is a modern and well-equipped 284 bed DGH serving the rural Borders area in South East Scotland, approximately 36 miles from Edinburgh.
This post is aimed at post foundation doctors at ST1 or ST2 level who have completed a foundation medical training programme (or have gained equivalent additional clinical experience). Full GMC registration and licence to practice is essential but no previous Haematology experience is required, but an interest in the specialty is essential. You may be seeking further experience in Haematology or to provide a professional development supplement to support other career options longer term. This post is not a recognised training grade but may be the right opportunity for you to develop and evidence clinical and professional competence to assist overall CV development
In combination with the clinical component, the development component of this post is flexible according to your specific needs, level of experience and career interest. An educational supervisor (a senior clinician within the unit) will be appointed to support you to formulate a Personal Development Plan and a paper-based portfolio. Opportunities will exist for experience in (specifically in Simulation), Management and Leadership, Clinical Skills and Quality Improvement. This should equate to approximately 1 day per week (annual leave excepted).
