Newly Qualified Children’s Nurses.
We are excited to share that NHS Tayside Children and Young people’s services have a number of opportunities to recruit newly qualified children’s nurses.
Opportunities included:
- Opportunity 1 is for 1 permanent Band 5 post, working 32 hours per week, to join an existing three-way rotation in the Paediatric Complex Disability (PCD) Service. This rotation covers Glenlaw House, the early year’s assessment nursery at Armitstead Child Development Centre (ACDC) and specialist school at Kingspark.
- Opportunity 2 offers an opportunity for 2 or 3 Newly Qualified Practitioners (NQP) Band 5 to join the Neonatal team to cover maternity leave for one year. These temporary posts offer flexibility of hours for either part-time or full time working.
- Opportunity 3 invites 4 full-time NQP Band 5 to join a newly created four-way rotation in children’s services. These posts are permanent contracts. Rotational placements will change approximately every 6 months and include Ward 29, high dependency, Paediatric Assessment Unit, Children’s investigation unit, Ward 30, NICU and PCD.
NHS Tayside Children’s Hospital at Ninewells, NICU and the community based PCD services offer a comprehensive range of healthcare services to children, young people and their families in Tayside. Consequently, these posts provide a fantastic and varied start to your nursing career where you will be supported to continue to enhance you nursing skills and expertise. Orientation and induction programmes will be offered. We promote person centred cultures and encourage supportive team working and development. We are soon to open a new children’s theatre suite in Dundee and access new OPD area in Perth. The NICU has recently been fully refurbished and now provides a state of the art environment to care for babies and families. We continue to work to improve all our other care areas and services.
All NQP will be supported to gain experience in several aspects of children's nursing role by working in children's medical, surgical, complex disability, The Children’s Community Nursing team, Homecare and neonatal services.
Job descriptions and roles are specific to each of the work environments described above and therefore, while there are many generic elements shared by each post, for the purposes of clarity, you will be provided with detailed job descriptions for each placement or environment of work.
