£87,534 - £116,313 (2021 – 2022 Salary Scales)

Applications are invited for two posts of Consultant Interventional Cardiologist (Full Time 40 Hours), based at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness. Raigmore Hospital is the principal hospital of NHS Highland, which has a large catchment area of 12,500 square miles and a population of 320,000.

Due to its geographical location, Raigmore Hospital benefits from an enhanced range of in-house specialist cardiac services, as well as being a fantastic place to live and work.

Raigmore Hospital has a 6-bedded coronary care unit, cardiology ward and a newly upgraded spacious interventional suite, containing two large well-equipped catheterisation laboratories. Coronary angiography and PCI are provided for direct admissions to Raigmore Hospital and transfers from referring hospitals. All complex coronary interventions are performed on-site, supported by a full range of contemporary interventional devices. Training, teamwork and peer support are key aspects of working closely together in our interventional team.

The cardiology department routinely performs pacing/ICDs, cardiac resynchronisation therapy, nuclear perfusion scanning, cardiac CT, cardiac MRI and TOE. Interventional radiology is available on-site, next to the cardiac lab. This post has no commitment to general medical receiving.

Research facilities are provided in the Centre for Health Science, adjacent to Raigmore Hospital. The department is currently recruiting for a large number of cardiology trials. Excellent academic links exist with the University of Aberdeen and the University of Highlands and Islands, with supervision of medical students, PhD and other postgraduate projects.

The City of Inverness is the Capital of the Scottish Highlands and residents enjoy a very high quality of life and working environment.
