This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced School Nurse or Health Visitor to work across Moray Health and Social Care Partnership (MHSCP) as a Specialist Nurse Child Protection - School Nursing. The post holder is responsible for the provision of high quality Child Protection services delivered by professionals across Moray. The post holder will represent MHSCP and provide expert knowledge and advice regarding safeguarding children to a wide range of professional groups and organisations and work closely with appropriate colleagues in partner agencies.
The post holder will prioritise supports to the school nursing teams across MHSCP and to other health professionals across MHSCP and NHS Grampian. This involves offering training, one-to-one support and case supervision in relation to complex child protection issues e.g. substance misusing parents, gender based violence, cases of neglect.
The post holder will operate with a high level of autonomy to make the correct clinical decisions based on researched evidence e.g. early assessment of health and wellbeing of individual children and families where concern is raised. Required to communicate complex and sensitive information regarding child protection issues, making highly complex analysis and interpretation of cases to facilitate learning and development of staff.
Responsible for the participation of the specialist nurse team planning process, identifying changing needs of the service/caseloads and contributing these into the relevant local/wider planning processes e.g. changing work practices to ensure delivery of services.
As well as being an autonomous practitioner working within clinical and professional guidelines requiring excellent communication skills the post holder requires good IT skills, the ability to manage a number of complex cases and the skill to prioritise the demands regularly. The post holder must have updated NMC registration, Revalidation, PVG and be a car owner and driver.
This post will be directly line managed by the MHSCP Specialist Nurse for Child Protection and will sit within the Operational Lead Nurse for Children and Families Portfolio. Professional leadership will be provided by the Lead Nurse for Child Protection. The post holder will receive supervision and peer support at regular intervals and work closely with the NHS Grampian child protection specialist team.
