Healthcare Improvement Scotland is responsible for supporting improvements in health and social care in Scotland. We have a broad portfolio of responsibilities from sharing the most up-to-date evidence of best practice, offering improvement support, providing rigorous external quality assurance, and supporting people to have a greater say in the design and delivery of health and social care services.
The Quality Assurance Directorate is a key element to our success, providing inspection and external assurance of health care and regulates the independent health care sector in Scotland. As the Director you will provide strong, visible and engaging leadership. You will have a strong commitment to supporting and motivating people to give their best and in building high performing teams.
You will understand the importance of retaining a very firm grasp on the day to day delivery of the directorate’s objectives, whilst influencing and shaping the future strategy of Healthcare Improvement Scotland. You will have a high level of political acumen and resilience in handling the demanding aspects of the role. You will be as comfortable in bringing innovation and fresh ideas to improvement as you are in offering robust but constructive challenge to inappropriate variation in the quality of care.
A natural team player, you will also work collaboratively with other members of the Executive Team in supporting the delivery of improvements in health and social care. You will also be adept at building alliances with a range of stakeholders including our key statutory partners such as the Care Inspectorate and NHS Education for Scotland. Ideally, you will already have a leadership role and senior level experience in the health or social care sectors.
This is a rare and exciting opportunity to strategically shape and further develop our profile nationally, making a real difference for those who access health and social care services across Scotland.
