Job Advert

This exciting opportunity in one of the most forward looking and progressive NHS Boards is ideal for those seeking a new challenge as a senior leader in this key area.  We are looking for an innovative and enthusiastic individual to lead the Pharmacy agenda.

NHS Forth Valley provides a full range of primary, community, mental health, acute and elective hospital services for a population of around 330,000, across the different settings in the Board.

We are looking to recruit an outstanding Director of Pharmacy to fulfil this key Director role, which reports to the Executive Medical Director and sits within the Corporate Management Team, who will provide vital strategic leadership to NHS Forth Valley.

This role will be key in creating and leading in, not only the next healthcare vision for NHS Forth Valley and partners but also the specific role and direction of pharmacy and medicines management in the Board and beyond, with our patients and communities. It is a particularly important role at this time in our ongoing recovery and remobilisation from the Covid-19 pandemic, and identifying and taking the opportunities that this presents will be vital. The Director will hold responsibility for all aspects of pharmacy leadership, medicines management & optimisation as well as the strategic leadership and development of Pharmacy professional services.

NHS Forth Valley is seeking an exceptional leader, a registered pharmacist with excellent interpersonal and influencing skills. You will have a proven track record of motivating, inspiring and developing teams, and will be able to demonstrate how you have led continual improvement of Pharmacy services.

Reporting to the Executive Medical Director as the responsible pharmaceutical officer to the NHS Forth Valley Board, you will provide expert clinical, professional, and technical advice and direction for the delivery of comprehensive pharmaceutical services to patients and staff across Forth Valley. A key part of the role will be to encourage and facilitate new ways of delivering pharmaceutical care and to create and explore opportunities to develop roles, behaviours, and ways of working to achieve consistent high standards of service for patients in all parts of the system. You will lead on the development of pharmacy practice and an integrated, flexible pharmacy workforce across NHS Forth Valley and Health and Social Care Partnerships via our network of Community Pharmacies. NHS Forth Valley has well developed local links with all partners where pharmacy professionals, technical and supporting staff and multidisciplinary teams all work together.

We have a strong history of partnership working across Forth Valley with an outstanding record in delivery of the Primary Care Improvement Plan, and this has been strengthened during our collective response to the covid-19 pandemic and our vaccination programme. As our Director of Pharmacy you will enable and enhance what we’ve been achieving across our system to strengthen collaborative working and bring colleagues together for the benefit of our population. If you feel you have the necessary knowledge and experience, drive and determination required for this role, then we would be delighted to receive your application.

The duties of this post require the successful candidate to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.  More information on this scheme can be found at www.disclosurescotland.co.uk
