Applicants are invited for the post of Consultant Paediatric Neurologist commencing spring 2022. The post attracts 10 programmed activities per week, including 2 PA for supporting professional activities. Specific start date is negotiable.
This tertiary level child neurology post has arisen as a consequence of a retirement. The appointee must be trained in paediatrics and hold the MRCPCH, or equivalent, and have completed higher specialist training (or equivalent) in paediatric neurology. Applicants must be on the Specialist Register, or within six months, at date of interview, of being admitted to the Register if currently in a training programme within the UK. Suitable candidates who are eligible for entry onto the Specialist Register through the CSER route will be considered but would be appointed in a locum post for up to 23 months in the first instance. Tayside has an excellent record of supporting well-qualified individuals through the CSER route.
The appointee must be able to demonstrate clinical experience and competence in the assessment and management of children with a broad range of chronic neurological and neuro-disabling disorders. This post will contribute to the in-patient and out-patient neurology clinical service of NHS Tayside and the North & East Scotland Child and Adolescent Neurology Network (NeSCANN).
The post-holder will join the Paediatric Consultant team in Tayside Children’s Hospital who provide secondary and tertiary level paediatric services. The post holder will join the tertiary Neurology team of 3 WTE consultants and 2 epilepsy nurses based in Ninewells Hospital Dundee. Working within NeSCANN, they will also contribute to tertiary neurology services across the North of Scotland and the Epilepsy Surgery Service based in Edinburgh.
Your primary base will be NHS Tayside Children’s Hospital, Dundee within the paediatric neurology/ neurodisability team. Out-patient clinics are in the Children’s Hospital, at Perth Royal Infirmary, the Armistead Child Development Centre and specialist schools across the region. Travel to Inverness will be required to provide tertiary out-patient clinics at Raigmore Hospital.
