We have an exciting opportunity for a Chief Clinical Physiologist to join our team at University Hospital Wishaw

The post holder will provide a comprehensive and efficient respiratory investigation service for the Hospital, manage all aspects of the work, staff and equipment within the confines of the available budget and to ensure that all testing procedures are carried out according to national and international standards.


​​​​​​​KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB

BSc in clinical physiology plus ARTP parts 1 & 2.

Relevant equivalent academic and work experience at Masters level.

Post qualification experience.

Operating at level to be RCCP registered.

Must have completed a wide variety of formal, advanced, highly specialised, accredited courses/study days on specific procedures and disease processes or attended accredited conferences on the same.

Must have advanced underpinning specialist knowledge of a broad range of diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures.

Expected to continually update knowledge and skills to provide optimum care.

Required to keep an updated professional portfolio for evidence of CPD for the Health Professions Council and Registration Council for Clinical Physiology.

Must be able to prioritise and manage the work of the department and be able to use own initiative when dealing with issues within own specialist area of competence.

Must have a working knowledge of relevant national standards, professional guidelines and local rules and safety practices.

Must be able to use general computer software packages such as Word and PowerPoint.

Must be able to deal with occasional distressing circumstances such as cardiac arrest.

Must be able to communicate complex information to other professional groups (including manufacturers).

Must be able to train groups of other professional staff.

Must have good negotiation skills.

Must be able to deal with complex and unpredictable situations e.g. patients becoming unwell during testing, unco-operative patients.

Must have knowledge of management issues and should have undertaken relevant management/ team leading courses.
