NHS Glasgow Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is the largest NHS Health Organisation in Scotland providing acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of 1.15 million plus providing specialist regional and national services to more than half of Scotland’s population. The geographical area covered is diverse; encompassing 6 local authority areas within the West of Scotland and with an annual revenue budget of c £3.2 billion and a capital budget of £60m this represents circa 24% of the overall Health spend in Scotland.
The Head of Unscheduled Care (UC) Strategy Development and Programmes is a senior management position reporting to the Chief Operating Officer with responsibility for leading an experienced and dedicated team to develop a fully integrated model of urgent care through joint commissioning and collaboration on UC service strategy, design and improvement.
The post holder will provide system wide leadership across Acute Services and the six Health and Social Care Partnerships (HCSP’s) for the development of the unscheduled care strategy, service redesign and comprehensive programme management of key priority projects aligned to the Boards Strategic Objectives and National Unscheduled Care Performance requirements.
This includes the sponsorship and development of a comprehensive programme of activity designed to modernise urgent care service provision across primary and secondary care and improve NHSGGC’s performance against national and local key performance indicators. The overarching objective is to collaborate with system wide stakeholders to provide safe and effective care closer to home or in a homely setting and to improve access for service users by changing the traditional dependency on primary and secondary care through a prioritised programme of innovative and enhanced pathway change.
The role also includes the provision of advanced system, process and performance analytics and unscheduled care performance monitoring for the Corporate Management Team and the Chief Executive.
This is a key high functioning leadership role and requires an individuals with strong interpersonal and negotiating skills. Educated to degree level and with experience at a strategic level we are looking for someone with a demonstrable track record of success in this field. An individual with strong analytical and operational management science is a key focus.
