About the Organisation:
Public Health Scotland is a new organisation, set up to improve the lives of people in Scotland, to reduce health inequalities that persist in many of our communities. It’s an exciting time to join the organisation, with PHS at the forefront of Scotland’s efforts to tackle Coronavirus and its implications across society.
The Post:
The Clinical and Protecting Health Directorate are seeking fixed term/locum Consultants in Public Health / Public Health Medicine; these can be part time or full time. The post holders will provide clinical and public health leadership across a number of areas including Health Protection to our continued COVID-19 response.
The fixed term posts will be to the end of September 2022 and there will be an expectation for the post-holders to participate in the in-hours rota and provide on call/out of hours cover.
The locum posts can be flexible to mutually benefit the individual and PHS.
You will work in partnership with PHS colleagues to provide support to the COVID-19 response, including chairing national meetings, provision of support to areas such as Contact Tracing, Testing, Guidance, provision of VAMs support.
You will develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders such as Health Protection Teams in NHS Boards, Scottish Government and partner organisations.
The Candidate:
The post holder must be registered on the Specialist Register of the General Medical/Dental Council in Public Health or on the UK Public Health (Specialist) Register. The post holder will be a Competent Person under the provision of the Public Health Act (Scotland) 2008.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who have lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
Candidates must have current NMC/GMC/GDC/HCPC registration at the time of applying.
Due to our national response to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic there will be an expectation for weekend and/or out of hours working
