A vacancy has become available in our small, but very busy department supporting specialist cancer services to the Highlands & Islands of Scotland. The department is equipped with two Varian Truebeam Linear Accelerators and a Siemens Somatom Confidence RT Pro CT Scanner. We also have access to both MRI and PET-CT. The RayStation Treatment Planning system is in use and transit dosimetry via Dosimetry Check is routinely provided for all TPS-based plans. The Oncology Management System in use is Aria.
Work currently scheduled for 2022 includes the commissioning of a replacement Truebeam including the introduction of 6DOF couches, the replacement of the current Oncology Management System and the introduction of SABR for a range of sites. Other development work includes working towards the introduction of a new, dedicated MRI service for radiotherapy treatment planning.
In addition to contributing to all parts of the routine radiotherapy physics service, the postholder will have the opportunity to work on a range of development projects and propose project ideas to develop and lead. Continuing professional development of all staff is encouraged and supported.

Inverness is the capital city of the Highlands and offers a high standard of living in an area of outstanding wildlife and natural beauty, providing an ideal base for pursuing many outdoor activities within the Highlands and Islands area.

Informal enquiries and visits to the Department are welcome.  Please contact Steve Colligan, Head Radiotherapy Physics (email steven.colligan@nhs.scot)
