CLOSING DATE CHANGED -  now closing midnight 12/07/22

Whether you are new to nursing, new to the critical care, or have years of experience, we have a role for you. CCU is a supportive and friendly environment The unit is a busy one with a wide range of patients, both elective and emergency, and all new starters begin with a supernumerary period to help you settle in. You will not have your own patients during this time but will instead have the chance to work with a more experienced member of staff. This means you are helped and supported to gain the fundamental skills as you familiarise yourself with the environment and equipment and how to care for the critically ill patient safely.

Critical care nursing offers multiple opportunities for career development in clinical specialist roles, nurse management and leadership roles as well as audit and research. Our nurses receive multiple training opportunities with formal courses and in-house development programmes. There is also the opportunity to apply for the critical care course run by Cumbria University. We will provide you with the knowledge and skills that you require to manage these challenging patients using a combination of theoretical and practical teaching sessions supported by a competency-based training programme.
