Specialist Pharmacist (Surgery) - Band 7

37.5 hours/week - Permanent Post

Are you interested in developing your surgical experience in Glasgow & Clyde? Does the opportunity to train in a supportive environment with motivated pharmacists appeal to you? Would you like the opportunity to work in specialist referral units, where you can use and develop your pharmacy knowledge and skills?

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced clinical pharmacist with excellent communication skills to join our surgical team in Glasgow Royal Infirmary. You will be part of our surgical and critical care team helping to lead and develop patient focused clinical services to a variety of surgical specialties. You will work in our surgical wards and will have the opportunity to work within our critical care unit. You will be an active member of the multidisciplinary team participating in team meetings, supporting medicine reconciliation processes and initiatives such as triage and referral. You will act as a source of information and prescribing support providing information on all aspects of drug use including patient safety and contributing to strategic plans for modern pharmacy services.

Glasgow Royal Infirmary is a busy teaching hospital situated in the North of Glasgow and has an excellent team of friendly pharmacy staff committed to modernisation of services and in particular ward based medicines management, pharmacist prescribing and e-health initiatives.

The post holder should have a least 2 years relevant hospital experience and to have completed or be near to completion of SVTS stage 2 or equivalent.  If postgraduate training has been commenced, we will continue to support pharmacists working towards a further postgraduate qualification including independent prescribing, MSC or diploma.  The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the weekend rota and potentially on call.

This post would provide the successful candidate with a unique opportunity to expand their clinical knowledge and skills and also to contribute to developing new ways of working to achieve better care for patients.  This would be ideal opportunity for a band 6 looking to progress or a band 7 who wishes to develop as an independent clinical practitioner.

The working pattern can be flexible with participation in weekends, public holidays and on call shifts.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde encourages applications from all sections of the community. We promote a culture of inclusion across the organisation and are proud of the diverse workforce we have.

Details on how to contact the Recruitment Service can be found within the Candidate Information Packs.
