This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post. 

Please note: As this post is part-time the salary will be pro-rata.

  • To provide an expert high quality specialist OT service to children within the neonatal service  as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • To work closely with the multi disciplinary team, carers, Education staff, and other healthcare professionals, to achieve integrated management of children with neonatal conditions
  • To provide an expert resource for the management of neonates including, but not limited to babies born very prematurely and those with additional needs and or developmental delay.
  • To provide expert direct clinical care which encompasses Occupational Therapy assessment, treatment and advice on appropriate management for neonates  across acute and community sectors.
  • Independently evaluate children referred to the neonatal service by G.P’s other paediatric Consultants and other health professionals. The post-holder provides direct clinical care to their own caseload, which encompasses highly specialist occupational therapy assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of complex paediatric patients.
  • To act as an expert clinical educator in the field of paediatric Neonatology to families, education, healthcare and social work staff, and voluntary services.
  • To encourage high clinical standards including the development of innovative working practices and expert  specialist skills
  • Lead and support research and clinical effectiveness activities to extend professional practice e.g. devise or test new clinical benchmarks, outcome measures and clinical indicators.​​​​​​​
