A fantastic opportunity has emerged for a Specialist CT and General Radiographer to join our enthusiastic Radiology team here at NHS Orkney. Please click here to learn more about working with our Radiology Team.​​​​​​​

Working autonomously, as part of a small team without on-site radiological support, you will need to be confident in assessing the quality of your images, recognising, and escalating urgent findings. You will undertake all radiographic duties including general radiography, CT, and on-call (approximately 1 in 5).

The successful candidate will hold a Diploma of the College of Radiographers or BSc (Hons) Radiography with HCPC registration. You will be able to work unsupervised, independently, and as part of a team. Excellent time management and organisational skills are essential in this post. Extensive experience in CT is not essential as further training in CT will be given, if required, on site.

NHS Orkney’s new healthcare facility, opened in 2019, includes a state-of-the-art General Radiography, CT, and ultrasound rooms. While Remote and rural medicine in a community with multiple small islands, farming, and fishing industries, offers unique challenges for the colleagues to overcome but also provides fantastic opportunities in continuity ​​​​​​​of care and multidisciplinary working to the benefit of our patients.

Development Opportunity
This vacancy may also be considered as a development opportunity for newly qualified radiographers who are willing to engage in a professionally supported educational package, including formal academic and learning in practice. On completion of your training you will be placed on either the first pay point of the appropriate pay band or the next pay point above your training salary.
