Job Advert

Please note this is a fixed term post for 18 months

Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have had agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.

For secondments external to NHS Lanarkshire please refer to the secondment policy at https://www.nhslanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk/corporate-policies/human-resources-policy/ for further information.

NHS Lanarkshire is recruiting to an exciting new role (initially on a fixed term basis or secondment) for a Clinical Pharmacist to contribute to the Dermatology Service across NHS Lanarkshire to ensure patients receive high quality pharmaceutical care. The post holder will become an integrated member of the consultant-led multidisciplinary team and provide direct patient care, requiring an ability to effectively monitor patients’ treatments as well as good communication skills.

There will be a focus on ensuring safe, effective and person-centred use of biological medicines as well as other high risk medicines such as immunosuppressant, primarily within the outpatient setting.  Consequently, a pharmacist independent prescriber qualification (or soon to be completed) is required and knowledge of dermatology and/or biological medicines would be advantageous. The post will be based at University Hospital Monklands; although there will be a need to travel across NHS Lanarkshire and beyond at times.

Furthermore, the post holder will contribute the clinical governance agenda for medicines use alongside the highly specialist clinical pharmacist and clinical lead within dermatology.  This will include developing and reviewing clinical protocols and Patient Group Directions (PGDs) as well as undertaking quality improvement initiatives to improve practice.

It is an exciting time in NHS Lanarkshire within expanding roles for the pharmacy team within the outpatient setting as well as developing future plans for the replacement of the current University Hospital Monklands site. Applications are welcomed from suitably qualified candidates with a passion for delivering high quality pharmaceutical care and drive to develop a pharmacist role within dermatology.
