Job Advert
An opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Urologist with sub-specialist interest in Robotic Surgery and Pelvic oncology to augment and support the current Robotic services within our health board.
You will join an ambitious and comprehensive team in NHS Fife where all subspecialty areas are delivered in an exceptionally cohesive and supportive environment. The unit in NHS Fife has been the fastest growing Urology department in Scotland and is now at the forefront of technological development and provision of patient care.
Robotic theatre sessions will be carried out in Victoria Hospital's a state-of-the-art theatre suite with utilisation of the latest dual console Intuitive Robotic platform. Whilst there will be an expectation that the poster holder will be fully capable of performing Robotically assisted radical prostatectomy, we would be planning to provide them with an expert level of support throughout the initial period of employment.
You will attend weekly MDT and planning meetings and be able to attend the complex pelvic surgery meetings alongside those colleagues from colo-rectal surgery and gynae-oncology that all operate within the same theatre complex and with whom joint operating is encouraged.
Familiarity and capability to carry out local anaesthetic transperineal prostatic biopsies is desirable as transrectal prostatic biopsies are no longer routinely performed.
There will be feasibility within the job plan to develop and pursue other subspecialty or core areas as desired by the successful candidate.
The on-call commitment will be 1 in 9 covering adult and adolescent emergencies.
Research participation will be encouraged with excellent opportunties to collaborate with St Andrew's University as well as other nearby institutions.
UK trained candidates must be on the specialist register or within 6 months of an approved CCT at the date of interview. Non UK candidates must have confirmation from the GMC that CESR has been awarded at the date of application
We would be happy to welcome those who wish to visit the hospital and to meet with potential clinical colleagues.
