NHS Education for Scotland (NES), in partnership with NHS boards, offers supernumerary training opportunities to high quality science graduates who are passionate about science, its role in modern healthcare, and are committed to NHS Scotland. Our senior scientific staff have a leading role in improving patient care by undertaking complex investigations, clinical interpretation, development and problem solving at the technical-clinical interface, and research and innovation. As part of our healthcare science team, you will join a fixed term training programme as an NHS board employee, but your training may rotate through different centres around Scotland. Your training will lead towards Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration http://www.hcpc-uk.org as a clinical scientist aligned with the framework for UK-wide modernising scientific careers. Funding for postgraduate training and course fees will be provided. Current salary scale for these supernumerary trainee posts is ‘AfC’ band 6. Guidance for completion of an online NHS Scotland application form can be found at: http://www.nes.scot.nhs.uk .  Applications are invited from candidates with a first or upper second class honours degree in biochemistry or relevant scientific area. Trainees will have a contract of employment for 37.5 hours/week starting on 1st September 2022. There will be one post based in each of the following locations:-. The NHS health board training will include rotations across a range of blood science specialties, required for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.
