Population Health Strategic Programme Manager – Edinburgh Locality

NHS Lothian’s Public Health Directorate is seeking Population Health Strategic Programme Managers (Band 8a) to work closely with local authority, third sector and health and social care partnerships to address the determinants of health and reduce poverty and inequality. The postholders will work closely with the Locality Consultants in Public Health and manage a team of public health staff. We have consultant led public health teams aligned to each of our four Health and Social Care Partnership areas. Vacancies exist within the City of Edinburgh, Midlothian and East Lothian partnership areas.  Our model of place-based working focuses on delivering a health in all policies approach in health and social care partnerships and community planning partnerships with a focus on prevention and tackling inequalities.

We want highly motivated individuals with strong communication skills, in-depth understanding of inequalities in health, and a significant proven track record in the field of Public Health or health improvement and partnership working.  The ability to work flexibly and from various locations throughout Lothian are also essential.

NHS Lothian is a £1.6bn organisation and covers the City of Edinburgh, West Lothian, East Lothian and Midlothian local authorities and serves a population of 800,000.  The Department of Public Health and Health Policy aims to improve and protect the health of the people in Lothian as part of a whole system approach to public health in Scotland.

The department is organised around Population Health and Health Protection.  The post-holder will join the Population Health Team. All activity takes into account the recovery and renewal demands of COVID-19.

There is a strong commitment to multi-disciplinary public health reflected in the range of staff within the department.  Line management will be with the Locality Consultant for Public Health for each locality.

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
