This is a permanent part-time post for 30 hours.

This post is to support the safe processing of donor human milk and the safe operation of the Human Milk Bank.

Key responsibilities include:

  • The pasteurisation, analysis and testing of human milk as per the standard operational procedures
  • Rotation of human milk stock
  • Issuing of pasteurised human milk
  • Maintaining all records
  • Ensuring stock of all consumables are ordered and maintained
  • Cleaning and calibration of equipment and milk kitchen

The post holder should have the following qualifications and skills:

  • Standard Grade level English
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Experience in health care, a  laboratory or food processing industry
  • Excellent communication ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

This is a technical post which requires a person with good organisation, high levels of concentration, multi-tasking and the ability to manage competing demands. The post will be Monday to Friday, working flexibly to meet the demands of the service.

The Milk Bank is a unique service, recruiting and screening donors from all over Scotland. The screened and pasteurised human milk is then redistributed out through the Neonatal Units across Scotland. It is requires an excellent candidate who is proactive and a team player.
