An exciting opportunity has arisen within the laboratory department in Lorn & Islands Hospital Laboratory for a Medical Laboratory Assistant. Candidates will be enthusiastic, outgoing, motivated and innovative, with good organisational skills and well developed communication skills.
All training will be given in post, although experience with keyboard skills is desirable.
The Oban Laboratory is run by a small friendly team, working closely together to process approximately 200 samples a day. Some morning weekend work will be expected on an equal shared rota. Within your duties listed in the job description will be phlebotomy - The collection of bloods from patients on the wards. Sample reception, where the samples are sorted and prepared for processing, entering the requests into the computer, basic laboratory tasks and monitoring laboratory stocks.
