We are delighted to offer the opportunity for a senior midwife to join the maternity service midwifery team in NHS Tayside
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced midwife to advance your career, shape the quality of midwifery care and influence the development of high quality maternity services which put women and their families at the very heart. Within NHS Tayside we are fortunate to provide maternity care across our 3 community midwifery units, community settings and in our larger site at Ninewells hospital where our obstetric services are based. We have a number of specialist midwives to support service delivery and are committed to implementing the recommendations from The Best Start maternity review.
The Senior Midwife post will have professional, operational and managerial responsibility for the midwifery teams across the maternity service based within the Ninewells hospital site. This includes Maternity Assessment Unit, Maternity Triage, Labour ward including high dependency teams and the Maternity post/antenatal ward. Our service is currently on an exciting journey to implementing full case loading teams, considering and testing how we integrate best practice for women experiencing complex pregnancies. It will be a key aspect of the Senior Midwife role to support and develop this work further.
The successful candidate will have broad experience of midwifery encompassing both clinical and managerial expertise. They will have experience in managing teams, leading change, supporting quality improvement and working in collaboration with colleagues across complex systems to ensure a safe, compassionate and person centred approach to maternity care. The post holder must have excellent communication and decision making skills. They will work closely with the Lead Midwife, Senior Midwife for community midwifery services and the Senior Nurse for gynaecology within the women’s service providing cohesive leadership and will be expected to work in partnership with the other Senior Midwife/Nurses and multi-professional leads across the Women and Families care group in developing and delivering key priorities throughout the division.
Applicants for this post must be educated to Masters level or working towards and have equivalent post registration education and experience and be registered with the NMC as a Midwife.
