Band 7 – 1.0WTE

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic pharmacist to join the pharmacy team at the Western General Hospital, Edinburgh. The post will be split between covering Respiratory / Cardiology and Medicine of the Elderly (MOE) services. The respiratory service has grown recently, and this post has been created to help cover both in-patients and out-patients including the National Adult Cystic Fibrosis Service. The MOE and Stroke pharmacy team work closely with the multi-disciplinary team serving around 150 in-patients in MOE wards, this new post will bolster the team to improve the clinical service we offer to our patients.

The post will be split evenly between the two specialities with 2 full days in each and one split day.

You will be expected to work as an integral part of the multidisciplinary teams in each area. There will be opportunities in protocol and policy development as well as a service development role, including a focus on expanding the homecare service to Cystic Fibrosis and improving discharge planning on the respiratory ward. Within MOE you will have the opportunity to develop clinical and leadership skills in a small supportive team.

We are looking for a dynamic, forward thinking and highly motivated individual to work with the Lead Pharmacists in this challenging but well supported role to further enhance the impact of Pharmacy on site and to develop your skills and training. This role will also include supervision of junior pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and students.

This is an excellent position for an experienced band 6 pharmacist looking for progression or a current band 7 looking to diversify their experience, not only clinically but also in project planning and service development.

Candidates must have a Master of Pharmacy Degree or equivalent, must be a member of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), and should have completed (or be close to completing) the NES Foundation Training for Pharmacists or equivalent.
