Applications are invited from trainees for the position of Clinical Development Fellow within the Emergency Departments of Royal Alexandra Hospital, Paisley and Inverclyde Royal Hospital, Inverclyde, who have successfully completed the UK Foundation Programme. Most of the clinical time is based at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, however, you will be working between Royal Alexandra Hospital and Inverclyde Royal Hospital.

The CDFs posts will afford successful applicants the opportunity to gain experience in Emergency Medicine prior to committing to a future Core or Specialty training programme or to enhance your CV.

This job plan has 10 PAs, divided in to 2 components: clinical activity and professional development.

  • 8 PAs clinical duties
  • 2 PAs professional development

Professional development can take the form of an existing interest or project the candidate or get involved with our ongoing projects. Examples of professional development we have to offer include simulation & skills training, clinical teaching and education and management and leadership training. Our current and past Clinical Development Fellows have been involved in departmental audit and research and most have presented their work at national and international levels.

These CDF posts will have a named mentor/supervisor to guide you through your time in Clyde and you will also require to provide a proportion of out of hours activity.

There is a highly exciting opportunity for one fellow to work with the newly established Trainee Emergency Research Network (TERN) to undertake national studies. TERN is supported by the Royal College of Emergency Medicine to facilitate trainee delivered Emergency Medicine research across the UK. As part of this post the fellow will liaise with TERN to coordinate and deliver local data collection across the Clyde sites. In addition the post-holder will also be involved in coordinating recruitment to a number of ongoing large multi-centre studies recruiting on the Clyde sites.

The appointment will be whole time for the duration of 12 months commencing 3rd August 2022.  A 50% pay supplement will be paid to recognise contribution to out of hours working and emergency duty commitments, and will be based on a salary range of £34,901 – £50,526 per annum. Applicants must hold Full GMC Registration with a current Licence to Practice and at time of appointment have attained FY2 competencies or equivalent.
