Teenage Cancer Trust in collaboration with the NHS in Scotland continue to support the success of TYA nursing service developments, improving age appropriate care and support to teenagers and young adults diagnosed with cancer in Scotland. By leading TYA cancer services and engaging with internal and external groups across NHS Tayside the post holder will promote the ethos of TYA care and Teenage Cancer Trust. They will provide professional leadership in the development of nursing care for TYA patients and work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team and the wider national Teenage Cancer Trust Nurses group.
NHS Tayside is delighted to continue to work in partnership to host a Teenage Cancer Trust funded Teenage & Young Adult (TYA) Clinical Nurse Specialist to support young people (16 – 24 years) diagnosed with cancer.
This TYA cancer specialist nursing post provides an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to play a pivotal role in delivering Scotland’s vision and ambitions in TYA cancer care. The post holder will work with the Teenage Cancer Trust National Lead Nurse for TYA cancers and the multiprofessional cancer site specific team within NHS Tayside to deliver and continuously develop excellence in clinical care for Teenagers and Young Adults with cancer and their families.
The post holder will be required to work autonomously and exercise a high level of clinical expertise when identifying and caring for the specific needs of TYA patients and their carer’s. You will need excellent interpersonal skills, senior nursing experience, knowledge of TYA cancers and the ability to work sensitively and collaboratively with diverse teams.
It is essential that you are a NMC Registered Level 1 Adult or Children’s Nurse with previous post registration experience in at least one of the following; Teenage and Young Adult cancer, Adult Oncology/Haematology, Palliative Care or other relevant experience. Educated to first degree level, you should be able to evidence your continuing professional development along with excellent clinical knowledge, leadership and communication skills.
This post requires membership of Disclosure Scotland PVG Scheme.
Ability to travel within Tayside regions.
