An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced dynamic, motivated and enthusiastic nurse to join the Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) Team. Applications are welcomed from Registered Nurses with an interest in IPC and who wish to develop in this field.
Previous IPC experience/ knowledge advantageous. The successful candidate will work closely with Infection Prevention & Control Nurse Specialist and be supported to complete the Career & Development Frameworks. The candidate must demonstrate an enthusiasm for learning and be able to work well within the multi-disciplinary team.
The IPC Service is delivered and supported by an experienced team who facilitate the prevention, surveillance, investigation, and control of infection across NHS Orkney to support the provision of safe, effective, person-centric care. The service includes IPC Nurses, administration staff, IPC Doctor. The IPC Team also work with ARHAI Scotland, NHS Orkney Public Health team, Health Improvement Scotland, IPC specialists’ forums and Scottish Government which allows experience of working with external organisations and the learning opportunities available from this.
The candidate must be able to work effectively and efficiently in a high-pressure environment, have excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt to ever changing scenarios such as occurrences in outbreak management. The successful applicant will be based in The Balfour but will assist with providing cover to Primary, Secondary Care and IP&C support to residential care homes for older people, both virtually and in person.
