We are seeking 2 dynamic individuals to join the Glasgow city’s Northwest locality Health Improvement Team as a Health Improvement Lead. The post-holders will provide effective operational management within the Northwest locality Health Improvement Team and will manage a discrete team of Health Improvement staff. They will have responsibility for a broad portfolio of health improvement programmes with the overall aim of improving health and reducing health inequalities in line with the HSCP strategic plan and other locally and nationally identified priorities. The post-holders will influence and provide Health Improvement leadership within the HSCP and key partner agencies to contribute to the strategic development and implementation plans for a portfolio of health improvement work streams.

One post (stream B) will be responsible for portfolio which primarily covers early years and child health & parenting programmes. The other post (stream D) will be responsible for a portfolio which includes place-based working, mental health, addictions & equalities. Both of these portfolios may change over time. Candidates will be asked at interview if they have a preference for either post.  The successful applicants will demonstrate a strong commitment to improving health, reducing inequalities and delivering better outcomes. Educated to degree level (preferably with a relevant post-graduate qualification), the post holders should have a track record of health improvement/public health experience, partnership working, operational management and a good understanding of public health priorities and health inequalities. The post holders are expected to fulfil the Standards for Public Health Practice (Health improvement) at an Advanced level.
