Dental Tutor/Clinical Skills Facilitator
Dental Care Professional Workstream - DCP
Base: Glasgow Dental Education Centre (GDEC)
An opportunity has arisen within NHS Education for Scotland (NES) to apply for the post of Dental Tutor with the Dental Care Professional (DCP) Workstream.
The DCP workstream provides a range of education provision which includes pre and post registration training for dental nurses, orthodontic therapists, practice managers and receptionists.
This post will include Dental Tutor and Clinical Skills Facilitator responsibilities within Glasgow Dental Education Centre (GDEC).
As a Dental Tutor you will contribute to the development and delivery of a full range of education and training programmes provided by the workstream. The Dental Tutor will support the Lead DCP Tutor and team of Dental Tutors in the delivery, assessment and quality assurance of the programmes provided, which will include using a range of methods and technologies to support training and assessment.
Within the Clinical Skills Facility you will be involved in preparing and maintaining equipment, instruments, materials and teaching resources required for all clinical skills programmes. As part of this role the post holder will be required to liaise and coordinate with internal staff (Advisors, Tutors, Business Support colleagues) and individuals external to the organisation to efficiently plan and coordinate specific requirements and resources required for a range of clinical skills teaching programmes within GDEC.
We are seeking a GDC registered dental care professional (possessing a dental nurse qualification) with an active post registration portfolio who has a keen interest in learning and development. Experience in designing, delivering training, mentoring or assessing learners would be advantageous. Current clinical experience would be advantageous to support the role within the Clinical Skills Facility. Training and support will be provided for both roles.
As an effective team player, you will possess excellent organisational, communication and IT skills. Some experience of online learning would be valuable.
You will be expected to deal with a range of queries from a variety of professionals in a courteous and professional manner.
Joining a highly dynamic team within NHS Education for Scotland you will work with the Lead DCP Tutor, team of Dental Tutors, National Workstream Lead, and Business Support Teams to plan and deliver DCP education and training, ensuring a consistent approach is delivered in all centres, through standardised processes.
This is exciting and rewarding work which aims to support pre and post registration training for dental nurses, orthodontic therapists Practice Managers and Receptionists, to enable the delivery of safe, person-centred and effective high-quality dental care.
As Clinical Facilitator you will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of the dental professionals during activities within the Clinical Skills Facility, ensuring that quality education is supported within an organised and well maintained facility.
