An opportunity has arisen to join the centralised pre-operative assessment team within NHS Ayrshire and Arran.  We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic, reliable and flexible nurse to join our team on a fixed term/secondment basis until September 2023.  As a Registered Nurse you will be involved with full history taking, physical examination and optimisation of patients prior to their admission for elective surgery.  

Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential.  You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team involved with the pre-operative assessment and preparation of patients from all surgical specialties and have the confidence to interact with NHS staff at all levels.  You will also have excellent organisational skills and the ability to work independently, displaying maturity and understanding in progressing issues.  

Experience of working within an acute surgical setting is essential, as is evidence of continuing professional development.  Venepuncture skills and experience of pre-operative assessment would be advantageous.  You must have good IT skills as our assessment documentation is electronic. 

This post involves working between Crosshouse and Ayr Hospitals, therefore a driving licence and access to a car is essential.  

Hours: post 1 – 22.5 per week  5 out of 7 days.
