An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time Band 6 Clinical Studies Officer in Dumfries and Galloway situated within the national research network.
The Neuroprogressive and Dementia Research Network is an established organisation funded by the Chief Scientist Office. Our primary aim is to support and facilitate the conduct and delivery of clinical trials in dementia and neurodegenerative diseases within the NDN portfolio. Emma Law is the Network Manager based in NHS Tayside.
The post holder will be expected to work within NDN and ENRICH, assisting the network to put neuroprogressive and dementia research, including research in care homes, at its heart. This will include enabling the network strategy aspirations around the NDN and ENRICH (see webpages of ENRICH and the NDN strategy)

You will help to enable the population of research participants in Dumfries and Galloway to participate in research as well as assisting in trial delivery of research projects. In addition, the post holder will also be expected to manage trial data, conduct data entry, quality check data and adhere to trial protocols.
The post holder may also assist with recruitment and study assessments in other clinical studies within the NDN portfolio, occasionally from other areas within neighbouring Health Boards. Very occasionally you may be required to work at some distance from Dumfries and Galloway if the demands of a particular study require this. You will be involved with the assessment and management of the research pathways for patients and carers participating in clinical studies under the auspices of the network. You will be required to liaise with clinical teams dealing with the clinical care of the patient and carer concerned.
The successful applicant will work closely with the Senior Clinical Studies officers for both ENRICH and NDN for your geographical area, your local management and with the network manager in Scotland. Although based in NHS Dumfries and Galloway, the post holder will work across boards as part of a team of research staff across Scotland.
Hours of work: 4 hours per week. This is a fixed term contract for 1 year (end date 31st March 2023) in the first instance but it is anticipated that period will be extended subject to review.
