An exciting opportunity has arisen for a physiotherapy assistant to support qualified Physiotherapy staff, and under their supervision/instruction assist them in the rehabilitation of their patients. Predominantly you will work within the physiotherapy Trauma & Orthopaedics service based at University Hospital Crosshouse. There may be a requirement at times to work in other clinical specialties and clinical settings.

Duties include, working with the clinician in the moving and handling of patients, escorting and preparing the patient for treatment, assisting in the treatment where more than one person is required, carrying out specific treatment interventions as instructed by physiotherapist and delivering equipment. You will be undertaking a mentally and physically demanding job, and you should demonstrate awareness of health and safety at all times. Specific housekeeping and administration duties are also relevant to this role.

Experience as a physiotherapy assistant is desirable. Key attributes for this post will be your excellent communication and interpersonal skills, flexibility and the ability to work across a variety of settings, and work closely with physically dependent patients. Active participation with our services In-service Training programme is expected.
