Are you an experienced children’s nurse seeking a new opportunity? We are looking for a dynamic Senior Staff Nurse who is passionate about providing expert, person-centred care for babies, children and young people with life-shortening conditions and their families in their own homes. This is a really exciting time to join Children’s Hospices Across Scotland – better known as CHAS – Scotland’s national children’s hospice service.
Following the reconfiguration of our services in response to the Pandemic we have a Senior Staff Nurse vacancy in our CHAS at home, Aberdeen team. 
As a Senior Staff Nurse within CHAS you will bring valuable leadership experience to the team and be involved in providing specialist palliative care, end of life care for children and respite for the whole family in their own home.  You will have the opportunity to use your current knowledge and leadership skills to support the senior charge nurses in developing a highly motivated and skilled team, becoming part of an organisation where everyone is passionate about the work they do.

 
Role Responsibilities


•    Provides a high standard of palliative nursing care for children and young people who have life-shortening conditions 
•    Provide specialist nursing care at end of life and bereavement support.
•    Provide emotional and practical support to the child and their family, ensuring contact is maintained between home visits and that the wishes of the family are delivered.
•    Supervises a small team of nurses and senior nursing support workers
•    Delegated line management responsibility for a team of staff nurses and senior nursing support workers 
•    Supports the Senior Charge Nurses to oversee the work of the CHAS at home team, ensuring that resources are allocated appropriately and skills are used effectively in setting and maintaining excellent standards of nursing care 
•    Co-ordinates the delivery of safe and effective nursing care
•    Provides day to day visible leadership to the CHAS at Home Aberdeen team
•    Mentor staff nurses, students, nursing support and home support volunteers.
•    Participate in quality assurance and practice development activities with the view of achieving the organisational goals and objectives in the CHAS Strategic Plan.
•    Collaborate and liaise with and work in partnership with our NHS, social care and third sector colleagues


About You


In order to provide a high standard of nursing care in family home, and to help CHAS achieve its objectives, you will have:
•    A registered nurse qualification.
•    A degree or evidence of equivalent experience.
•    Leadership/ supervision experience
•    Experience of assessing, planning, organising, implementing and evaluating nursing care for children, young people and families.
•    Experience of working with whole families to provide education and support in managing a child or young person’s condition.
