Job Advert

A rarely available yet exciting opportunity has now become available for an innovative and dynamic experienced Registered Nurse to lead the nursing team within Ward 12 at University Hospital Monklands.  As the Senior Charge Nurse, you will be committed to continuous professional development and possess strong communication and organisational skills with the ability to apply these effectively in a dynamic environment.  As an experienced nurse, you will provide strong clinical, theoretical and practical leadership to the ward Nursing Team, whilst promoting a collaborative partnership with multi-disciplinary colleagues both within and out with the ward environment.  You will provide a high standard of nursing care and be able to demonstrate that you can deliver change through effective visible clinical leadership.   Candidates will be able to evidence their ability to inspire and motivate their team and have a passion for providing safe, highly effective, person centred care.  Ward 12 caters for general medical male and female patients and specialises in diabetes and endocrine.  There is a dedicated nursing and medical workforce with excellent consultant support at ward level.  We also have an Advanced Nurse Practitioner who is ward based and works collaboratively with the wider MDT.   As a Senior Charge Nurse, you should also manage and develop the performance of the Nursing team and contribute to the delivery of NHS Lanarkshire’s organisational objectives.

To fulfil the requirements of the post, you should be an NMC registered nurse with the relevant wealth and breadth of experience within a medical / endocrine / diabetes setting and be able to describe expert clinical and professional practice developed through practical experience and theoretical knowledge.  You will be able to demonstrate your ability to provide a high standard of nursing care and your ability to manage change through effective leadership.  Applicants should be proactive, highly motivated and have the ability to lead from the front in a challenging and dynamic environment.  This role is pivotal in raising clinical standards of care for patients and managing local and national agendas and as such, you will work very closely with the Senior Nurse (Medical Directorate) to deliver the key aspects of these agendas.  You will also contribute to the wider Medical Directorate Management Team as an integral figure.  You should be educated to degree level with post graduate qualifications relating to the relevant speciality.  In addition, a qualification in frontline leadership and management and / or Quality Improvement would be highly desirable for this post.  The post holder will work predominantly days, Monday to Friday and the successful candidate will take part in the Hospital Cover rota (including occasional weekend working).

Informal enquiries regarding the post will be welcomed by Gavin Dolan – Senior Nurse (Medical Directorate) UHM on 01236 712443 or DECT 404367.  Email enquiries should be directed to: gavin.dolan@lanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk
