You will be accountable to the Commodity Team Manager and will manage a product portfolio of the health board’s approximate non-pay spend of £500 million p.a. which includes Pharmaceutical, Medical, Surgical, Facility Management, Lab and corporate products/services. You will manage effectively all Senior Commodity Officers and Commodity Officers within the section providing guidance, support, development, evaluating, training and mentoring, ensuring all staff are trained to meet the tasks required of them. You will be responsible for ensuring that your staff operate and all contracts within their portfolio are in accordance with NHS GG&C policies including Standing Financial Instructions and staff governance. Furthermore you are responsible to ensuring service developments are implemented in line with NHS GG&C and National strategies. You will be accountable for ensuring the compliance to new contracts and auditable for savings generated. You will be expected to interpret broad clinical and financial aims, objectives and guidelines from various clinical and non-clinical sources to establish the best way to achieve these based on best value for money while meeting stakeholder’s needs. You should be educated to a degree or equivalent level and have a Professional/Postgraduate qualification in Purchasing and Supplies. You should also have knowledge of contract law and the EU procurement directive. The shift pattern for this post is Monday - Friday.
