The core focus of the role will be upon the psychological assessment and treatment of clients referred from GPs and from wider CMHT colleagues, referred as outpatients. The post holder may be required to become involved in group work at Tier 2 or Tier 3. This post may also involve consultation and training with other health/mental health professionals and supervising other staff or trainees.


Ideally the post-holder will be able to draw upon additional training achieved post-qualification relevant to the service, to a level of a working knowledge as a minimum.  This may well be one or more of the following: BFT, CBT for Psychosis, around complex trauma and issues of personality – CFT, DBT, CAT, Schema etc.


As a senior clinician, the post-holder may be required to undertake a role deputising for the Co-ordinator, at weekly referral allocation and MDT meetings with the CMHT, team meetings, representing the East Kilbride service at meetings within NHS Lanarkshire, with local referrers and to take on the management responsibilities of the service during the Co-ordinators absence during sickness, leave etc.


There will be a requirement to become involved in activities across the wider work of the Psychological Therapies Teams operating within NHS Lanarkshire where necessary, e.g. staff training.
