We are a friendly, creative, outward-looking team practising rewarding nursing care in South-West Edinburgh. Our practice population is mixed and covers some of Edinburgh’s most deprived and diverse communities. We operate a mixed telephone triage and acute illness system. The successful candidate will work closely with GP colleagues, providing a daily triage service and immediate care for acute illness presentations, in addition to acute illness clinics, where patients are assessed, treated and referred onwards to secondary care where appropriate. To undertake the role of an advanced nurse practitioner, the candidate will need to utilise high levels of decision making and clinical judgment related to acute illness presentations within the General Practice setting. In addition, the role will provide specialist advice to healthcare professionals, other agencies, carers, clients and relatives. The ANP role encompasses that of expert clinician, educator and auditor.

We are a section 2C PMS practice, well-supported by an enthusiastic team of allied healthcare professionals, including a full time mental health nurse, pharmacists, link worker, lifestyle coach and CHAI advisors for benefits advice. We enjoy robust partnerships with the agencies co-located in the Healthy Living Centre, which include the South-west recovery hub, Wester Hailes Health Agency, Herbal medicine clinic and Westerhaven project, which support people and their carers with long term conditions.
