Job Advert

NHS Tayside has been at the forefront of the development of the General Practice Pharmacy role since 1997. The service has evolved over the years to become well established, person centred and maximises the skills of the professional pharmacy teams.  The NHS Tayside Locality Pharmacy Service is progressing well towards meeting the aspirations of Achieving Excellence in Pharmaceutical Care and the pharmacotherapy services outlined in the 2018 General Medical Services contract.

The NHS Tayside ethos is to allow professionals to develop to be the best they can be, further develop their competencies within robust competency frameworks, and actively encourage multidisciplinary and multi professional working.

The development of the team of locality pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in NHS Tayside recognises the valuable contribution that each profession brings to the delivery of high quality patient care.

We are a sociable, forward thinking team with excellent peer support networks across Tayside and Scotland, including prescribing support and medicines information networks and excellent links with pharmacists working within specialist clinical pharmacy areas. Team members are encouraged to develop their clinical skills.

The role will be community based and involve working in a range of environments such as GP practices, care homes and patients own homes.  The emphasis is on high quality, patient facing, pharmaceutical care.

There are 3 posts available band 6/7. As a band 6 you will be supported to complete the NES Foundation Training program for Primary Care in preparation for the transition to band 7. Your time will primarily be spent in GP practices with the opportunity to gain experience of delivering services in community hospitals.

You will be supported by the NES educational framework and a clinical and educational supervisor as you work towards becoming an advanced General Practice Clinical Pharmacist.

Your time will primarily be spent in GP practices within Perth & Kinross but there may be the opportunity to gain experience of delivering a clinical pharmacy service to community hospitals.
