Job Advert

Due to investment in clinical pharmacy services, we have an exceptional career opportunity for an experienced pharmacist ready to advance their career and develop leadership and clinical skills within the specialty of renal medicine at Forth Valley Royal Hospital, Larbert.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic senior pharmacist to make a difference and contribute to transforming hospital services and improving patient outcomes through medicines. You will need to be organised, work well within a team and have a positive, ‘can do’ attitude.  You need to enjoy working in a busy challenging environment, be able to manage multiple competing priorities and deliver against tight deadlines. You will have excellent communication skills, be an enthusiastic educator and have proven multidisciplinary influencing skills. You will be an experienced practitioner, with the necessary level of therapeutic knowledge and experience to provide high quality patient-centred care. An independent prescribing qualification is desirable although there are opportunities for post-graduate study.

Key activities of the post are:
• Develop and deliver clinical pharmacy services for renal medicine across the organisation including haemodialysis, out-patients and renal in-patients.
• Represent the team within NHS Forth Valley, nationally and across interface boundaries.
• Work as an expert pharmacist, contributing to decision making on a daily basis including antimicrobial stewardship, clinical governance and medicines safety.
• Participate in clinical audit, education and research, risk management and clinical guideline implementation.

The pharmacy service within NHS Forth Valley is highly regarded across the organisation with staff working closely within multi-disciplinary teams.  The clinical pharmacist team is strongly supported by one of the largest and most established clinical pharmacy technician teams in Scotland, who are poised to take their service to the next level.  The department is forward thinking and constantly seeking improvement. We have many opportunities for personal development and you will be supported to undertake clinical leadership training. The Pharmacy Department makes use of modern technologies including robotics.  We have implemented Hospital Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (HEPMA) throughout the health board, keeping us at the forefront of healthcare provision.

We are a friendly, dedicated and supportive team.  Team building activities include our cake club, summer picnic, hill walking outings and hospital ball. The hospital, which is situated surrounded by woods and lochs, provides many activities to support healthy lives for staff such as yoga and cycling clubs. Larbert is within 40 minutes of Edinburgh and Glasgow and has excellent road and rail links. Flexible or part-time working patterns will be considered.

The duties of this post require the successful candidate to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.  More information on this scheme can be found at www.disclosurescotland.co.uk
