Evidence and Evaluation for Improvement Team

£33,072 - £40,736 (Band 6)

Permanent, Full time (37.5 hours per week)

Edinburgh or Glasgow – hybrid working will apply for the foreseeable future

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Improvement Hub (ihub) within Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS), which is currently developing a range of new approaches to enable improvements in health and social care in Scotland. The role will sit within the Evidence and Evaluation for Improvement Team (EEvIT) and will work closely alongside improvement delivery teams in the Transformational Redesign Unit, part of the ihub.

The Evidence and Evaluation for Improvement Team provides high quality evidence review and evaluation support for HIS improvement work. EEvIT supports improvement/redesign teams within the ihub to use evidence to inform the planning and development of their work. In addition, a large proportion of EEvIT time is spent supporting improvement/redesign teams with the evaluation of their improvement work and the sharing of learning from service improvement in redesign to support spread.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and positive individual to work with us in our Knowledge and Information Skills Specialist post. Key responsibilities of the post holder will include:

  • Capturing stories and case studies to evidence the impact of the ihub work.
  • Identifying and capturing examples of innovation, such as new service models and good practice to inform the development of our work, building the case for doing things differently.
  • Undertaking horizon scanning of published reviews, evidence or innovative thinking that can inform the development of our work.
  • Together with health service researchers, developing evaluation plans and supporting data collection and analysis.
  • Sharing and disseminating knowledge across various information channels (web sites, social media).
  • Developing web content, working closely with the ihub communication team.
  • Working in partnership with colleagues in EEvIT, the communication team and the wider Evidence Directorate within HIS to ensure a quality service.

We are particularly interested in recruiting a creative individual who can present complex information in a clear and engaging way. Experience of presenting information visually is advantageous but not essential, however, willingness to learn and develop skills in this area is important. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively on their own but also as part of a team. A flexible and creative approach to work is important.

This post will work closely with the Housing, Homelessness and Healthcare Portfolio in the Transformational Redesign Unit of the ihub. The portfolio occupies a unique space in the Health and Social Care system bringing together Housing, Health and Social Care across statutory, private and voluntary sectors. Our recent review identified opportunities to drive improvements in relation to strategic planning and Housing Contributions Statements alongside leading a national learning network for homeless leads across Housing and Health. The successful applicant will provide dedicated support to both programmes delivering high quality information and supporting programme objectives.

For further information or informal discussion about the post, please contact the EEvIT Team Lead, Jo McPeake, on joanne.mcpeake4@nhs.scot
