Glasgow/Edinburgh - hybrid working will apply for the foreseeable future

An exciting opportunity exists for enthusiastic and positive individuals to join the health economics team within Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS). We are seeking a Health Economist to contribute to the production of evidence reviews and advice for our three national technology assessment bodies: the Scottish Health Technologies Group (SHTG); the Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN); and the Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC). These are applied health economics roles, contributing to shaping advice and decision making across NHSScotland, and helping to ensure timely and equitable access for patients to medicines, medical technologies and other interventions.

Providing economics input to a range of projects, day-to-day duties include: producing rigorous reviews of health economic evidence; developing models to assess the cost effectiveness of interventions; undertaking resource and cost impact analysis; and support for research activity across the organisation. The roles will also involve publishing your work and contributing to scientific conferences in relevant fields when required.

The roles require clear thinking and a methodical approach with strong quantitative and analytical skills. You will have excellent report writing skills and the ability to work autonomously and manage and summarise large amounts of scientific information to tight deadlines. Strong influencing and communication skills (both oral and written) to inform the decisions of senior clinicians and managers across NHSScotland are required.

You will be expected to have a relevant degree, a postgraduate degree in health economics (Masters level or equivalent), a sound understanding of economics concepts and practical, applied health economic evaluation experience. If your skills and experience can help manage, coordinate and deliver the provision of health economics across HIS, please find out more by downloading the job description below.
